Abstract

The article describes theoretical and methodological aspects of constructing a unidimensional scale of religiosity. Different approaches to religiosity are examined with an impact on theoretical adequacy and practical applicability in surveys. Authors argue for validity of cognitive framework providing relevant definitions and explanations. When conceptual choice is made authors describe logical design of future scale. Authors suggest next steps in construction of the cognitive religiosity scale.
