Abstract

This article considers the social phenomenon of trust in military organization as an object of study of military sociology and sociology of military administration. The main areas of research within the framework of the sociological support of military command and control are identified and characterized. The theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of trust in a military organization are represented by a description of the social structure of trust, which involves three levels: psychological, socio-psychological, and social; three components of trust: emotional, cognitive and behavioral; and three types of trust: trust-feeling, trust-attitude and trust-relationship. At each level of trust, significant sociological indicators are shown for each type and component of trust. This study offers results of empirical research among officers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2018. Respondents analysis allowed a hypothesis of necessary conditions for a military organization to contribute to the atmosphere of trust and emphasized problematic aspects in the formation of a high level of trust in the Russian army. This paper concludes with the need for an integrated approach not only in the sociological analysis of trust, but also in the organization of events aimed at achieving a high level of combat readiness of the army.
