Abstract

This paper presents key results of the European project EUROSTUDENT, where Russia takes part for the first time. The project in Russia is implemented by Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The aim of the project is the social dimension of higher education, namely the life of students. The article highlights methodological aspects of the study. Key points are represented by the themes: international mobility, the students` expenses, combining work and study, evaluation of the social situation of their families. Main objective of the EUROSTUDENT project is detection of similarities and distinctions of students` profiles in various countries-members of Bologna Process, namely: rendering assistance in increase capacity of national research structures of monitoring of social measurement of the higher education for coordination and adjustment of certain countries; delivering comparable key data and basic information in order to describe and map out the socio-economic living conditions of students in Europe; providing a structured and standardised monitoring system with which the effects of structural measures and changes can be identified for specific student groups; describing the current situation and with the aid of international comparison to identify obstacles to an inclusive and effective European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The main users of our findings are higher education policy-makers at national and European levels, researchers in this field, managers of higher education institutions and students all over Europe as main consumers of educational services having as a result an opportunity to compare conditions and possibilities of training in various countries of the European space.
