Abstract

The article summarizes the results of 2014 and 2013 surveys in Lomonosov Moscow State University and Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, devoted to student’s attitude to health. Questionnaire was the main research tool. The sample of the survey was 735 young people for MSU and 799 people for the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Type of sample can be defined as random. Probability of statistical error is 3.1%. Tool was developed by drawing on the recommendations of several international sociological research projects in health (for example, LLH 2002–2004; HITT-CIS2009–2013; SHBLS2012–2013; IPAQ 2005–2011 etc.). A study of healthy lifestyles of young people showed a critical state of the physical development of young generation. Student’s health, its preservation and promotion, healthy lifestyle, the presence of self-preservation behavior skills, the presence/absence of bad habits (smoking, alcohol, drugs) are aspects reflected in this analysis. Also the study is based on anthropometric data, the health risk levels, body mass index, which gives an idea that there are problems with having overweight. The article provides a sufficiently complete picture of the factors influencing student’s health and the health of the student body as a whole. The authors sectionize the youth in comparative aspect: boys — girls. As a result of the research it is necessary to underline main problems related to Russian students health. The key problems are: bad habits (alcohol, drugs, smoking), untimely eating, lack of sleep, lack of physical activity, etc.
