Abstract

Article deals with culturological judgment on intrinsic contents and history of verification of the concept “vernacular” area as result of spatial and geographical self-identification of its inhabitants and sociocultural reality. Historiography of this concept in foreign and domestic research is considered. Techniques of identification, including means of the Internet are described (a technique of “okonturirovaniye”, poll, crowdsourcing, “patrimonial cultures”, “inclination zones”, etc.); key characteristics of “the vernacular area” as subject of a scientific reflection and phenomenon of social life (life cycle, structure, intensity, borders, extent of influence on scale and depth of collective behavioural and mental stereotypes of inhabitants) come to light. Vernacular areas of the Russian territories of various scale are analyzed (interregional, regional, intracity, local). Resources for an intensification of modern social processes in regions come to light.
