Abstract

The article considers social engineering as a part of sociological knowledge that can not only assess the state of a social object and identify the need for modernizing of this state, but also offers ways to effectively improve this object. Social engineering is a transformative, creative sociology. It is a logical sequence of interrelated procedures. In a holistic relationship, these procedures are a management methodology that includes diagnosing the state of a social object, predicting its future, modeling a new modernized shape, conducting an experiment of a social model, building a social project and implementing its planning using algorithmic and innovative social technologies. This logical sequence provides a scientific justification for the management decision taking, an effective organization of management activities. The article presents the genesis of the development of socio-engineering knowledge in the works of foreign and Russian specialists, the design features of social engineering, the reasons for the insufficient use of its capabilities in our country and their consequences, shows the need for dissemination of socio-engineering knowledge in the training of management personnel, and considers its methodological role in the field of management.
