The review of the collective monograph “Thank You Great-grandfather for the Victory...” reveals the significance of the theme of the World War II (in relation to Russia it is first of all The Great Patriotic War) for the modern generation of young people. The social relevance of the monograph, its content value, empirical and theoretical richness are justified. The discussion points of the book are shown, the potentials of work on the sociological problems of collective memory of the Great Patriotic War are revealed. The author shows that the modern era is a crisis for the memory of the Great Patriotic War. The memory of generations is replaced by historical memory, because among us there are almost no living participants in the events of 80 years ago. In these circumstances, the scientific community has a special responsibility to ensure that the “twilight of memory” does not come.
