Abstract
Development of sociology and political science is discussed from the point of view of common historical roots and specific (for each discipline) conditions of shaping their respective fields of study. Author follows-up acquisition by sociology and political science respectively of their status as independent spheres of theoretical knowledge. Conditions for emergence of sociology in Russia are argued for.
