Analyzed are main socio-demographic features of poverty in contemporary Russia. It is shown that among key ones there are those what correct the chances of population in employment sphere, that is - health, age, type of settlement,- determining their impact on the nature of the labor market. It is demonstrated how various socio-demographic characteristics affect the risk of falling into poverty in "incomes" and is "hardships" for the last 10 years.
