Abstract

The article reveals the peculiarity of sociology after postmodernism as a way of self- cognition of the society, which is characterized by the variety of paradigmatic bases of scientific and research practices. The conceptual interpretation of these practices makes it possible to distinguish the classical, nonclassical and neoclassical models of sociological research. The basis for classical model of sociological research related to the traditions of positivism, scientism and classical rationality is the objectivist, realistic, socio-centrist, explaining and nomothetic style of sociological thinking. The nonclassical model of sociological research, connected with the traditions of antipositivism, antiscience and nonclassical rationality, is based on the axiological, nominalistic, anthropocentric, understanding and idiographic style of sociological thinking. The neoclassical model of sociological research began to take shape in the mainstream of critical trend in sociology as a "response" to the epistemological "challenges" of postmodernism. It is based on critical, constructive-realistic, holistic and synthetic style of sociological thinking that has been developed within the framework of neoclassical rationality.
