Working-class discourse of news at Russian TV channels is analyzed in the paper. Authors conclude that central TV channels transmit hegemonic discourse where the element of “worker” is attached to “stability” and 176 Социологические исследования № 7, 2015 “order”, while workers demonstrate conservatism and indifference towards politics. They become active when social order is threatened. They are represented “positively” in the context of shortage of qualified specialists in blue-collar positions.
