Abstract

The norm of effectiveness which is conceptually correlated to the principles of visualization and bourgeoisness in its claim to be the priority criterion for socio-cultural development critical is being examined. Effectiveness is considered an ability to reach any goal while minimizing efforts, means and resources. It requires reduction of time and homogenization of space. It doesn't need human relations but aims at the substitution of a complete psychosomatic being by a virtual observer of virtual effects. Needing visibility and cultivating it, effectiveness destroys harmony of the visual, the verbal and the handmade. The act of contemplation is being supplanted and replaced by the act of demonstration. Showcasing means putting up for sale. Showcase is a forefront of capitalism that gradually becomes the only one. Focusing on the principle of effectiveness, we push ourselves to a superficial capitalist dead end. Dictate of effectiveness is felt in the most harmful way in the spheres that are closest to man and to his creative activities: healthcare, education, culture, science. While resisting a formalized effectiveness, we should bet on meaningful work and dignity of a working man, on autonomy of an individual and a community.
