Chen Hong, Gan Xiaojuan The Reasons of the USSR Collapse: Views of Chinese Social Scholars. Sotsiologicheskie issledovaniya [Sociological Studies]. 2022. No 2. P. 142-146
2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the CPSU and the USSR. All these 30 years in China, they did not stop studying the nature of Soviet society and the reasons for its collapse, so that a large research community of studying the history of the USSR was formed in the PRC. As the review of the opinions on the reasons for the death of the USSR by prominent Chinese Sovietologists shows, in the modern PRC the same positions are presented as in modern Russia: some consider the death of the USSR to be the result of failures only in the party-political sphere, while others believe that the fundamental reason was the failure of the Stalinist model of socialism, still others consider underlying economic factors as the most important. At the same time, it is generally accepted to condemn the leadership of the СPSU in the 1980s. for the transformation of the initially socialist reforms into a “reorientation” towards capitalism.
